The deal that sent Paul George to Oklahoma City is one of the biggest moves so far this offseason, especially with the Thunder not emerging as a possible destination for the former Indiana Pacers forward until it pushed through. When news broke that he was traded, the team's fans' reactions about it were divided, as majority were happy to find out that Russell Westbrook will be playing with another star, while others were concerned that George may just turn out to be a one-year rental.

However, for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, he is also pleased to know that the All-Star forward will now represent Oklahoma City. He even made it known via Diamond Leung of SportTechie that he believes his partnership with the team could result to something special.

The 27-year-old Fresno State product may have informed the Pacers before that he prefers to sign next summer with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers, but he is also not closing his doors on extending his stay with his current team. Their chances of retaining him will all depend on how much success they'll reach this coming season. Should they be able to at least reach the Western Conference Finals, it will be hard for the George to leave, and he even said it will be a “dumb move” for him leave that situation.

It remains to be seen if the Thunder can win a lot of games and even have a deep run in the playoffs next year, but one thing certain at this point is with the level of talent Westbrook and George have, it will be very difficult to beat them, and they could even surprise a lot of people if they make it out of the West. If that happens, Irving will sound like a genius, as he already called it even before the season starting.
