With the title race heating up, Real Madrid will be visiting Sevilla in Andalusia, hoping to get an inch closer to the La Liga title. With that said, it’s a good time to check out our La Liga odds series, which includes our Sevilla-Real Madrid prediction and pick we have laid out below.

The Spanish La Liga is usually a three-team affair, but as Atletico Madrid fell off, Sevilla made sure that the third horse was present in the race. Sevilla has had a masterful season, basically securing themselves a spot in next year's Champions League, but also challenging Real Madrid for the title. They have fallen off lately, allowing Barcelona to almost overtake them, but with a win here, they would be right back. Fresh off of an exciting Champions League quarterfinals with Chelsea, Real Madrid look to secure four more wins in La Liga to get the title. This would be a massive one, as it would also knock out one of its competitors.

Why Sevilla Could Win This Match

The Andalusian team has had a great year, despite recent setbacks. Being able to stay in the title race, if your name is not Real Madrid, Barcelona, or recently Atletico Madrid, is a worthy achievement in Spain. The perennial Europa League contenders have been on the rise steadily and it culminated with the season they are currently having. After 31 games played, they are third, on the same points as 2nd-placed Barcelona, who has a better head-to-head record. Clearly, Sevilla is a force to be reckoned with in Spain.

Unfortunately for them, they have fallen off in recent weeks. Not only did they lose 1-0 to Barcelona to a wondergoal by Pedri, but they also had three draws in a row. Altogether, Sevilla have eight draws in their last fourteen games, which has caused them to slow down in the title race. Yet, some poor results by Real Madrid have kept them with some hope as we enter the final stretch of games in Spain. With a win here, the Andalusian team could be on pace to make the title race really interesting, together with Barcelona.

They have all the motivation in the world and they just put four past Granada last week, in a true morale-boosting game for the squad. Sevilla also have the best defense in the league, conceding just 22 in 31 games. If they can use that defensive stability and convert it into attacking prowess, they could sneak away a win from the presumed champions-elect in Madrid.

Why Real Madrid Could Win This Match

It has been a fairly odd season for the Spanish club. They are 12 points ahead of both of their title competitors and they are in the Champions League semifinals. Yet, there is this aura of uncertainty and criticism around the team. Coach Carlo Ancelotti has been criticized for his lack of rotations. While he has refrained from rotating, he will be forced to in this game. Both Marcelo and Ferland Mendy are out due to muscle injuries, so the Italian manager will need to figure out a solution.

Still, even with the injury issues, Real Madrid have the quality to win this match. They already beat Sevilla this year, albeit through a fairly lucky goal by Benzema and then a wondergoal by Vinicius Jr. Additionally, the confidence in the squad must be beaming, after late goals by Rodrygo and Benzema secured them a Champions League semifinal spot, despite the team being outplayed by Chelsea over the two legs. One more thing to keep in mind is that this team is playing for history, as Carlo Ancelotti could become the first manager with a title in each of the top five European leagues.

Real Madrid have a deep bench and motivation to win this game for their manager and the title that has evaded them last season. With a stretch of huge matches coming up, Real Madrid could look to set the tone with a calm and collected win against title rivals Sevilla in this matchup.

Final Sevilla-Real Madrid Prediction & Pick

It is very tough to predict this game. We essentially do not know how Real Madrid will set up in the absence of their two left-backs. Additionally, these are the two best defenses in the league, so we will likely not see a goal-fest. Given the form of the teams and the confidence of Los Merengues, we are backing Real Madrid to win this game.

Final Sevilla-Real Madrid Pick: Real Madrid (+145)
