Luke Walton knows a thing or two about a championship foundation. That's why Lakers fans listen with excited ears whenever Walton reveals how he's going about rebuilding in L.A.

Like anything, Walton plans to build strong relationships, especially with younger players, as he looks to set a strong foundation with the Lakers.

Via LA Daily News:

“We’ve started building relationships with our players. I think that’s a big key to coaching,” Walton said. “We’ve made it a fun and enjoyable place for them to come to work out, train and get better. I think that’s a big reason why, even though it’s optional, a lot of the guys are coming in.”

Walton was an assistant coach for the Warriors as they made the last two NBA Finals. He was the interim head coach for more than half of last season's team that went on to win a record 73 games.

Walton is the son of basketball legend, Bill Walton, one of the luckiest and unluckiest athletes ever. Unlucky due to injury, but lucky in playing for some of the greatest coaches ever, including John Wooden while in college at UCLA. If there's anyone that knows about relationships and building a foundation of success, it's Wooden.

Luke certainly had a lot of valuable knowledge passed down to him in his life. We'll see know how much that is worth with his new job in L.A.
