The Washington Wizards just are arguably the biggest surprise team of the young NBA season. Their offseason trade with the Los Angeles Lakers has paid huge dividends as their newfound depth has carried them to an 11-5 record, good for second place in the Eastern Conference.

LeBron James and the Lakers, on the other hand, find themselves below .500 and currently holding onto a play-in tournament spot like they did last season.

After the Wizards' latest win over the Miami Heat, former Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was asked about thriving on his new team while his old one is considered a “failure” so far. KCP was clearly amused by the extremely blunt line of questioning, as he was in hysterics before he could answer.

Via Chase Hughes:

“I'm happy where I'm at,” said KCP after he was able to gather himself. “I wasn't really too upset about what happened with the trade.

“Brad is a great friend,” the ex-Lakers wing continued. “We always talked about playing with each other. So it was no biggie for me already coming off a championship. It was time to move on.”

It's no secret that the Lakers have struggled so far this season. The injuries impacting both LeBron James and their roster depth coupled with adjusting to life with Russell Westbrook have resulted in some early season growing pains. But with less than a quarter of the season completed, it's way too early to call anyone's season a failure.

Better add this to the growing list of bulletin board material next to King James' locker.
