Alex Caruso knew the Chicago Bulls were the perfect team for him when it was made clear he couldn't return to the Los Angeles Lakers, and based on the early returns, he's right.

Speaking on JJ Redick's The Old Man & The Three podcast, Caruso discussed why he chose the Bulls after his Lakers exit. Everyone knows by now that the Purple and Gold didn't sign CaruShow because of financial restrictions, and so the defense-first, high-energy guard had to explore the free agent market.

Initially, Caruso thought the Bulls were off the list after they signed Lonzo Ball to a four-year, $85 million deal. Thankfully, things worked financially and Chicago was able to offer him a four-year, $37 million contract. Money aside, though, the 27-year-old noted that choosing the Windy City franchise was easy since he liked their plans for him and saw how the team views him as a player.

Alex Caruso is certainly not regretting his decision. While he was a fan favorite with the Lakers, coming to Chicago has given him a bigger and better role on top of financial security. He is playing 27 minutes a night, averaging 7.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game.

Not to mention that his chemistry with Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball has been evident, helping the Bulls to a 7-3 start to the season.

The Lakers are probably missing Caruso now, especially his energy off the bench that the Bulls are now enjoying, but it's hard not to be happy for the man who worked hard to earn his place in the NBA.
