Combo guard Alex Caruso is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Caruso is signing a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Lakers.

After losing Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers have agreed to free agent deals with Danny Green, DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook. Los Angeles also re-signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo and JaVale McGee. LA added Jared Dudley before missing out on Leonard.

Caruso played in 25 games for the Lakers this past season. He averaged 9.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 44.5 percent from the field, 48.0 percent from beyond the arc and 79.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers now have championship aspirations with Anthony Davis on the team next to LeBron James. Anything will be better than 2018-19. Los Angeles missed the postseason and was riddled with injuries and dysfunction. The losing, though, allowed the Lakers to take a look at Caruso, who averaged 18.2 points over his last six games to close out the regular season. He's loved by his teammates and is a fan favorite.

Seeing the Clippers get Leonard and Paul George was hard to stomach for fans of the Purple and Gold. They will just have to hope LeBron and AD can get them to the promised land next season.
