Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis wasn't pleased with Devin Booker's hard foul on teammate Dennis Schroder in Game 3. The Phoenix Suns star was ejected late in the game after he pushed Schroder mid-air while the Lakers guard was rising up for a shot. The foul was deemed excessive and unnecessary which ultimately sent the Suns guard to the locker room before the final buzzer.
Davis wasn't letting this one slip away. After the game, the Lakers big man blasted Booker's ‘dirty play.'
“(That) can't happen, you can't do that,” Davis said (via Bleacher Report). “It's a dirty play, Dennis could've really gotten hurt right there. That just can't happen. Hard fouls, things like that, (that's) playoff basketball and we accept those but to blatantly push a guy with two hands off the air is a scary play. Good thing he's okay but plays like that are unacceptable.”
Booker clearly took out his frustrations on Schroder after a disappointing Game 3 performance. The Suns guard shot just 6-of-19 from the field for just 19 points and was checked by Schroder and the rest of the Lakers' backcourt all game long. That being said, there's no room for blatant and dangerous fouls like that in the NBA even when it's in a heated match-up like this.
As AD mentioned, Booker's foul was uncalled for and Schroder could've easily gotten hurt if he had landed differently. The league will likely look into this incident and if deemed excessive, Booker might be looking at a crucial one-game suspension against the Lakers in Game 4 coming this Sunday.
