When Los Angeles Lakers free agent acquisition DeMarcus Cousins went down in the offseason, the Western Conference franchise had to reach out to old frenemy Dwight Howard to reunite at the Staples Center. Now, All-NBA big man Anthony Davis claims the Lakers could go super big with Howard and last year's starting center JaVale McGee.

During the Lakers' media day on Friday, Davis teased the “super big lineup,” saying that Howard and McGee could pair as a frontcourt duo.

The suggestion comes at an odd moment when third-year forward Kyle Kuzma is nursing a foot injury. The 24-year-old former first-round pick for L.A. could be slated to play alongside Davis and LeBron James in the frontcourt, should AD play the 5 with Cousins unavailable. However, new head coach Frank Vogel will now have to decide how to manage a glut with his big man rotation.

McGee is normally a low-usage player, thriving by setting screens for his teammates and being the beneficiary of an ever-present lob or alley-oop threat. Howard, meanwhile, has traditionally demanded the ball in the low post; but since signing with the Lakers, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year winner has changed his tune and claimed he is reinvented and rejuvenated to help in any way he can.

Regardless, including Kuzma's unclear length of absence, the Lakers' early season will be a wild ride headed by Vogel experimenting lineups. LA's first regular-season bout, too, is a Staples Center matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.
