Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is truly the next great big in La-La Land, getting it done on both ends of the floor in their thrilling 106-99 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Staples Center on Sunday.

Apart from leading the Lakers on offense with another impressive double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds, The Brow also swatted eight shots, which is the most blocks by a Laker player since Shaquille O'Neal's nine in  2003.

With athletic centers Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee complementing AD down low, the Lakers boast the best rim-protection in the entire league — notching 7.1 blocks per game. They surpassed that average by a wide margin on Sunday, rejecting the Pistons 20 times.

All three Laker bigs got in on the massive block party, as McGee swatted away six shots while Howard added five blocks of his own. The team was also just one-block away from tying the franchise's record for blocks in a game.

Despite their high block rate, the Lakers had trouble putting away the Pistons for good, as they allowed them to make several runs of their own to bridge the gap. Detroit even managed to get a one-point lead near the end of regulation up until LA put the finishing touches for their fifth consecutive win.

The Lakers were chasing blocks all night long, evident by the Pistons' frequent trips to the free-throw line (going 30-for-35), contrary to the home team's 16-of-23 (69.6 percent).

Anthony Davis, on the other hand, is expected to one day join the Lakers' Mt. Rushmore of big men that includes the likes of legendary centers like Shaquille O'Neal, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.
