The Los Angeles Lakers have had a three-month hiatus since they took the NBA by storm during the 2019-20 season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis quickly turned out to be one of the best duos in the game, helping lead the storied franchise to a first-place standing in the Western Conference before the country was hit severely by the coronavirus.

Now that the season is set to resume later this month in Orlando, Florida, the Lakers are gearing up for what could be a championship run. Los Angeles is considered to be one of three elite teams in the running for a title along with the division rival L.A. Clippers and Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s Milwaukee Bucks.

The real question moving forward is whether the time off helped or hurt the Lakers, and Anthony Davis chimed in on that very topic during a Zoom call on Thursday.

“I think our chances are the same,” Davis said. “We got guys who are healthy. Guys who are ready to go. It's kind of the same…Actually, I think our chances are higher because we're all rested, and we're all ready to go. If anything, are chances are higher, and it's going to be about who wants it more.

“Everybody kind of had a decompression of the season and obviously with stuff going on, but it's about what team wants it more and which team can stay healthy.”

Injuries haven't been a major problem for the Lakers like they were last season, where a groin injury suffered by LeBron James on Christmas Day ended their chances of competing. This year, the team has been able to stay relatively healthy, with only a few bumps and bruises along the way.

However, Davis had been dealing with lingering issues, especially in his right shoulder. This was obviously a concern for the star forward and the team, but he now he's 100 percent healthy and ready to go with the Lakers being about a week away from heading to Orlando.
