Frank Vogel has reportedly agreed to a deal to become the next coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Vogel is signing a three-year deal with the Lakers, the same deal Tyronn Lue turned down. Star small forward LeBron James has three years left on his deal with LA.

Vogel has coached the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic. He went 250-181 with the Pacers in the regular season and 54-110 with the Magic. Vogel was 31-30 in the playoffs with the Pacers and had a lot of battles with LeBron when The King was with the Miami Heat from 2010-14.

Vogel will try and lead the Lakers to the playoffs next season for the first time since 2013. He's inheriting a roster which is headlined by James, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart. Lance Stephenson, Rajon Rondo, Reggie Bullock and JaVale McGee are all unrestricted free agents this summer.

The Lakers have cap space this summer to sign a max contract player next to James. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard and Kemba Walker are the notable free agents this offseason. LA will also try and trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis again after failing to acquire him at the February trade deadline.
