In the last few months, the rumor mill around the Los Angeles Lakers has centered on the possibility that LeBron James and Paul George could sign with the team next summer.

Offseason addition Brook Lopez recently weighed in the chatter as he told Bill Oram of the Orange County Register that he has taken notice of it while voicing plenty of excitement about what could lie ahead.

“I’ve definitely noticed it,” Lopez said. “There’s lots of reasons obviously for that excitement, no question. But I’m a super unassuming guy myself, so I’m all right with that.”

The noise around these scenarios has been growing louder with each passing week with various reports stating that James will more than likely head to Los Angeles next offseason. Meanwhile, George has consistently been rumored to be heavily interested in joining the Lakers for the last several months even after being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this offseason.

What could be an interesting aspect in this regard for Lopez is that his $22.6 million salary is set to come off the books next summer and accounts for a large portion of the salary cap space next offseason that will be used to entice superstar players such as James and George to join the mix.

It could put the 29-year-old on the outside looking in unless the Lakers either free up more cap space or he's willing to take a significant pay cut. Regardless of that being the case, it's getting quite clear that the chatter around the league and Los Angeles has grown large and should only increase over this upcoming season leading into the summer.
