While most people would say Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time, Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham thinks otherwise. For him, the GOAT is Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Before anyone mocks the rook and criticize him from being unaware, Cunningham actually made a valid argument on his take–something that has long been discussed and one of the reasons why the GOAT debate is hard to settle. Simply put, the 19-year-old grew up watching the Lakers forward.

“It’s hard for me to put somebody ahead of LeBron cause LeBron is the best player I’ve seen with my eyes,” Cunningham told Da Windy City podcast, per Mark Carman of FanSided. “Trust me I’ve seen all the Michael Jordan stuff, dude is different. I can’t argue with the fact that you think he is the GOAT but in my eyes I say LeBron.”

Born in 2001, Cade Cunningham started basketball when LeBron James was dominating the league in the mid-2000s and early 2010s. With that said, it's not surprising that he sees LeBron as the best in the game (much like how players and NBA fans in Michael Jordan's era hail MJ as the undeniable GOAT).

“I always say I’ve been able to see LeBron I was never able to be around and see full games and know all the storylines going into games things like that with Michael Jordan,” the Pistons rookie added.

It's truly hard to compare players in different eras, which is why the GOAT talk has never been settled. As Cunningham showed, everyone has different opinions since not a lot of people–especially players today–have watched Jordan dominate his era.
