Carmelo Anthony recently went through his first official workout session in the Los Angeles Lakers' practice facility. It was also the first time Melo donned the Purple and Gold, which led to an honest admission from the 10-time NBA All-Star after this momentous occasion.

According to Anthony, the fact that he's now with the Lakers hasn't fully sunk in just yet:

“My first time being in the building, at the facility, on the court, still trying to get my bearings wrapped around my head the fact that I’m wearing this purple and gold,” Anthony said, via Spectrum SportsNet (h/t Sanjesh Singh of USA TODAY Sports). “But my first workout went great today.”

LA fans were extremely excited to see Carmelo Anthony in Lakers gear for the first time. Not many expected this would happen in Melo's career, and apparently, even the 37-year-old veteran himself didn't see this coming at all. Nevertheless, Anthony also admitted that he's just delighted to have been given the opportunity to play for one of the most storied franchises in sports:

“Again, it’s just like any other court, but that purple and gold is different,” Anthony said. “It always has been, and it always will be. I’m just happy to be a part of it.”

Melo should be able to wrap his head around this sooner rather than later. Once he does, he will hope to play a key role for the Lakers ahead of what many expect to be a resurgent season for LeBron James and Co.
