When he was a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, many thought that Channing Frye was the missing link. Frye, who is a fantastic 3-point shooter, would supposedly fit well alongside of LeBron James who is known for making 3-point shooters excel in the Cavaliers isolation-heavy system. Instead, Frye proved to be a mediocre addition to the team. He was barely used by Tyronn Lue in any Cavaliers lineups, and he soon became a mainstay on the bench.

Therefore, it was no surprise to anyone that Frye was traded to the Lakers on the February 8th trade deadline. Though, it appears that Frye is having a good time in Los Angeles. He has even complemented their team chemistry, something that was apparently missing when Frye was a member of the Cavaliers, per ESPN's Mike Trudell.

Channing Frye told us on the @SpectrumSN that one of the first things he noticed about the Lakers is how tight they are. Constantly joking around, having fun. Said that’s a great thing for a team to have as a foundation of the culture.

It is unclear of whether Frye was throwing shade at his former team. Nonetheless, it is understandable of why he would. Frye played zero minutes in the entire 2017 NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers had no intention on using him, especially since the team was focused on implementing Isaiah Thomas into the lineup at the time. Now, Frye has been given another chance to compete with a young aspiring team. Hopefully, he can rise to the occasion and become a quality veteran for the Lakers.
