One could argue that Carmelo Anthony has been the biggest revelation for the Los Angeles Lakers in what has been a lackluster start for them this season. Nevertheless, Melo has remained on the bench as part of the second unit for head coach Frank Vogel, who himself recently confirmed that Anthony isn't going to be starting anytime soon.

Vogel admitted that he loves using Anthony off the bench. The Lakers coach likes what Melo brings to the second unit, particularly with the type of energy he generates from the fans:

“Our crowd is amazing with him,” Vogel said in his post-game interview (h/t Brenna White of Fan Nation).

“They're keeping him out of the starting lineup because of the energy we get when he checks in, is something that I don't want to mess with. Obviously, there's the temptation to move AD to the five, but I like what we're getting with him coming off the bench. We just gotta continue.”

It seems that what Vogel is saying here is if it ain't broken, why fix it? Then again, the Lakers haven't exactly been functioning like a well-oiled machine of late. Melo has been one of their best players early on and if he's able to carry on with his hot streak (and if the Lakers keep on losing games), then coach Frank might be forced to rethink his strategy.
