Coming out of Utah, Kyle Kuzma was known to have some talent but no one expected the type of rookie year that he had. Kuzma quickly took the Los Angeles Lakers and the league by storm averaging 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting a true shooting percentage of nearly 55 percent.
Isaiah Thomas only spent a few months with Kuzma and the Lakers but he quickly saw how good of a talent he is and thinks that he is going to be very special in this league. Thomas appeared on the CBS Sports’ “Tiki and Tierney” show and talked about the young core that the Lakers have and he pointed out individually Kuzma.
“He (Kuzma) is a very underrated guy. The doubt that everybody has for his game is motivation. As someone who works very hard, he’s going to be another special young talent in this league.”
As a rookie, there was a lot of attention on the likes of Kuzma and Lonzo Ball among some of the other young guys. This year it's going to be different with LeBron James joining the club and it's going to be interesting to see how the young guys respond.
There is no question that there is still going to be a lot of playing time for these guys but the Lakers also brought in a lot of veteran guys that are going to be competing for playing time so there is a good chance that the young guy's stats actually go down this year.
