The Los Angeles Lakers were the talk of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas back in July. The team led by rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma dominated the competition and came away champions while also creating a lot of buzz about this young group.

Unfortunately for Ivica Zubac, this year's Summer League stint was a forgettable one. The rookie standout from last season's squad struggled in Vegas leading many to wonder whether he has a place on this team. Zubac, as motivated as ever, talked about his struggles and what he's worked on over the summer during Media Day at the team's new practice facility on Monday.

“Mostly my body and conditioning,” Zubac said. “A lot of three-point shooting. I really improved, so if I have a chance this season, I'm going to let it fly.”

The second-year center admitted he simply wasn't ready for the pace the Lakers were playing during Summer League.

“We played a quicker pace. I was not ready for that, and I've been preparing for that pace the whole summer. I think I'm really ready, and I think this is going to be a good season for me and the team.”

Even with the Lakers speeding up the pace with Ball running the show, Zubac isn't changing part of his game that he was bold enough to implement last season. Zubac didn't hesitate in telling ClutchPoints that he's sticking with the skyhook.

“Of course! The skyhook is the thing I work on every day with coach Bill Bertka. That's just regular stuff we do.”

With the Lakers bringing in Brook Lopez, Andrew Bogut, and rookie Thomas Bryant, Zubac will have his work cut out for him once again in Los Angeles this season. The Croatian product will need to prove his worth and that he can indeed adapt to the pace the Lakers will be playing this season and for the foreseeable future.
