Donald Trump's blasting of LeBron James has been attracting significant attention from ballers and non-ballers alike. The latest to chime in is NBA legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Via his Twitter account, the Lakers legend showed support for James and commented on Trump's ignorance of the concept and meaning of community:

In an interview with CNN's Don Lemon, James said that Trump is using sports to divide people.

“Sports has never been something that divides people. It's always been something that brings someone together,” he said.

“He [Mr Trump] is dividing us and what I noticed over the last few months is that he's kinda used sport to divide us and that's something I can't relate to, because I know that sport was the first time I was ever around someone white.”

Trump, for his part, hit back via Twitter — his favorite social media platform:

Apart from Abdul-Jabbar, several athletes have backed-up James. One of them being Michael Jordan himself, who, via a statement, said:

“I support LJ. He’s doing an amazing job for his community.”

Since Trump was elected as president, professional sports leagues have taken a firm political stand against him. James, Abdul-Jabbar, and Jordan are just among the few who have used their voice. And given the recent news and the publicity it has created, expect more athletes to share their thoughts on the matter.
