Kobe Bryant tribute mask to be worn by Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson

Kobe Bryant, Lakers, John Gibson

Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson will wear a tribute mask for Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on Friday.

The mask also honors Bryant’s daughter, Gigi:

The Lakers host the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday, the first game the team will play since the tragic death of Bryant.

The Lakers’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday was postponed due to the devastating news. With that said, Friday will surely be an emotional night in the stadium that Bryant essentially owned when he was a superstar for the Purple and Gold franchise during his playing days.

LA has the best record in the Western Conference. Nothing would make this season more special than to see LeBron James and Anthony Davis lead the franchise to banner No. 17 for Kobe.

LeBron is averaging 25.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 10.7 assists on the season. The King is playing like an MVP now that he’s healthy again.

Davis, meanwhile, is putting up 26.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in his first season in LA. Both LeBron and Davis were very close with Bryant, so it is not a stretch to say they are going to dedicate the rest of the season to Kobe.

The Lakers trained outside on a football field on Thursday to change up the mood.

LA retired Bryant’s No. 8 and 24 jerseys last year. He will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer as part of an incredible class when inductees are announced later this year and his story will never be forgotten by Lakers or NBA fans as a whole.
