January 26th, 2022 marked the second death anniversary of the late, great Kobe Bryant. Tributes came from everywhere to honor the Los Angeles Lakers legend, but one that stood out for being rather unusual is that from the daughter of Dwyane Wade.

Zaya Wade, the transgender daughter of the Miami Heat icon, posted a photo on Instagram of herself wearing a Kobe-inspired dress. Former Lakers big man Kwame Brown took exception with the image and he made sure to let the world know how he felt about it.

For starters, here's Zaya's post, to which D-Wade himself commented, “Girl Dad!” This was a reference to Bryant being the father of three girls, but it was also a way for Wade to express his support for his own daughter:

In a recent YouTube post from his own channel, Kwame Brown Bust Life, the former first overall pick absolutely went off on Wade for his daughter's actions:

“I don’t think you level up as a man,” Brown said. “You are letting your woman control your house. You played this thing called basketball. This is a game. Kobe Bryant’s children are not honoring him by wearing a dress. Kobe Bryant’s wife is not honoring him by wearing a dress. I don’t think nobody else is honoring Kobe Bryant by wearing a dress. Kobe Bryant was a masculine man.”

It did not stop there for Brown. He carried on with his rant as he reiterated how he believes Kobe, as a “heterosexual masculine man,” should not be honored in this way:

“How does that tie in with a teenage kid who feels like he's a woman now, how does that tie in with him putting on this man's jersey into a dress?” Brown asked.

“Dwyane Wade, if you respect Kobe like you said you did, you woulda had your son — we understand your son is gay, that's fine — but for that day to honor Kobe, why couldn't he just wear the goddamn jersey without turning into a dress?”

For what it's worth, Brown did note that he has nothing against transgender individuals. However, he clearly isn't happy with how his former Lakers teammate was honored by a transgender teenager wearing a dress.

One thing I can say for sure is that Kwame Brown is something else.
