The jury is still out on if the Washington Wizards won the Russell Westbrook trade with the Los Angeles Lakers, but Kyle Kuzma is doing his best to sway it D.C.'s way.

The fifth-year forward has been on a tear lately. Kuz has scored 20 or more in four straight games, upping his scoring total after each contest. He put on his best performance of the season on Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets, piling on a season-high 36 points – including three clutch threes in the final minutes to seal the victory.

Bradley Beal was asked after the game what's been the difference for Kuz compared to his past few years with the Lakers. His answer was simple – Kuz can now just “hoop”.

Via Chase Hughes:

“He now has it where he can flap his wings. He can breathe and relax and go play. He doesn't have to worry about all that outside stuff, the distractions per se. He can go hoop,” Beal said on Kuz after coming over from LA.

Kuzma himself has nothing but love for his time with the Lakers, but that doesn't change the fact that he's having a blast now that he's moved on to the nation's capital.

“I'm just in a great situation here in Washington. The coaching staff believes in me, the players believe in me and I'm just having fun, honestly. I'm having a lot of fun,” he said.

The Wizards and Lakers aren't too far apart in the standings. But whether or not you feel either side won the trade, Kyle Kuzma is showing that he's a clear winner with his much-improved play on the court.
