Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James won't be able to watch his pal Carmelo Anthony make his debut with the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday since he has his own game to play.

However, The King will definitely catch some of Melo's highlights after the Lakers' game against the Oklahoma City Thunder finishes:

Anthony signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Blazers. Some thought the 10-time All-Star would sign with the Lakers last season or in the offseason since LeBron is in LA, but the Lakers never had interest in adding Melo to the team.

Anthony played in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets before the franchise exiled and traded him to the Chicago Bulls last season. The Bulls waived Anthony, who hadn’t received any interest from teams since entering the open market until the Blazers swooped in.

Melo averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are 11-2 on the season. While it would have been cool to see Anthony and James play together, the fit just wasn't right for Melo. Things are going really well for the Lakers right now. The last thing they needed was to sign Anthony and disrupt the flow they have going for them.
