Dear Los Angeles Clippers fans,

It's me, a diehard Lakers fan who comes to you with sincerity- and more. After the offseason that landed the Clippers Paul George in a wild trade, and the same offseason that had Kawhi Leonard spurn the Lakers and sign with the Staples Center rivals, it was time. The rivalry was finally real. Sure, the Lob City Clippers teams were fun, but the Lakers teams during that time weren't very good, I'll be honest.

For the sake of honesty, the Leonard-George pairing was absolutely worrisome. The Clippers were immediately pegged as title favorites, much to the dismay of us faithful purple and gold truthers who just got LeBron James AND Anthony Davis. Nonetheless, the ball doesn't lie- and it didn't.

The Clippers' epic 3-1 collapse to the Denver Nuggets provided us with a week's worth of entertainment in the world of social media. Moreover, the Lakers beating the Nuggets to capture a Western Conference title made it that much better. LeBron and AD lifting up the Larry O'Brien trophy in the Orlando Bubble was the icing on the cake.

Then came this season. Again, the Lakers and Clippers pegged as favorites in the West, for a good reason. The Lakers got absolutely ripped apart for signing Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol, while the Clips signed Serge Ibaka and were somehow wildly successful in the offseason.

Yet here we are, on May 27, 2021. The Clippers are down 0-2 to the Dallas Mavericks. Sure, Luka Doncic is phenomenal, Tim Hardaway Jr. is decent (and easily could've been a Clipper), and Kristaps Porzingis is solid. But, on the other hand, Kawhi Leonard is one of the best two-way players in the game, a former Finals MVP, and won a championship with the Toronto Raptors. Despite his Pandemic P nickname, Paul George is also a terrific player (I wanted both of them in purple and gold).

But come on, a first-round loss to the Mavericks is absolutely terrible. Abysmal. Pathetic. Can you imagine the ongoing, neverending memes and receipts that Lakers Nation will pull out on you if this happens? Do you really want to deal with that for the entire offseason? Do you want to risk losing Kawhi and then being such with PG and (gulp) Luke Kennard and his terrible, awful contract?

Last year all we heard was, “The Lakers would've lost to the Clippers.” Well, got to win some games to even face the Lakers. Now, they tanked down the stretch to avoid the Lakers side of the bracket. The Clips OUT-TANKED the Thunder.

Now, Luka and the Mavs have torched you through two games AT HOME. That's what you get. Seriously, anything short of a Western Conference Finals trip will be straight ridicule of embarrassment.

Clips fans, embrace yourselves. A 3-0 deficit is nearly impossible to overcome in any sport, especially when you are the Clippers. Staples Center is packed with Lakers championship banners. Pretty soon, there won't even be room for a blue, white, red, whatever color your banner might be if that ever happens.

Get ready, those receipts are saved. Seriously, it's going to be a bloodbath.

The only thing that would make it better would be the Lakers winning another championship and having a 2-in-1 parade.

Ah, this is going to be epic. How much help do Kawhi and Paul George need?!?!?!?

Sincerely,

A True Lakers fan
