Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has never been very vocal about chasing the legacy of Michael Jordan. LeBron is considered by many as one of the greatest ever, but for most folks, he has yet to surpass the Chicago Bulls legend in terms of what he's done on the basketball court.

Well, as it turns out, this is something that motivates the Lakers star every single day. According to an article published by Dave McMenamin of ESPN, LeBron himself admitted that winning as many titles as MJ is something that keeps him motivated:

James already replaced Michael Jordan as the premier postseason scorer back in 2017 and told ESPN at the start of training camp that adding to his four championships in hopes of getting closer to Jordan's six remains a deep passion.

“I still have a burning desire inside of me to want to continue to win and hold Larry O'Brien's Trophy at the end of the season,” James said.

Currently, LeBron is still two championships behind Michael Jordan. Nevertheless, James has an opportunity to add to his tally this season with the Lakers considered as one of the favorites to go all the way this year.

The Lakers have been off to a bad start, though, losing their opening matchup to the Golden State Warriors following a winless preseason run. LeBron and Co. will need to figure things out sooner rather than later if James hopes to come one step closer to MJ at the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
