LeBron James' latest All-Star nomination is the 18th of his career. The Los Angeles Lakers star has been tremendous for his entire career. He now has a historic amount of All-Star games to his name and is still going strong. It's almost unimaginable that any player will approach  If there is any current player who could reach this feat, it's Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks.

Doncic, who made his third All-Star team in four years, is one of the brightest young stars in the NBA. Like James, he is a big forward with guard-like skills and wildly high basketball intellect. It would be surprising for Doncic — or any player, for that matter — to be a star for as long as James has, especially considering the Lakers star could still add more to his resumé. But Doncic undoubtedly has the talent to do it.

Ahead of the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, James explained exactly why he sees himself in Doncic.

The feeling of admiration is mutual between Doncic and James. The Mavs young star said that he has always looked up to the Lakers old star. Doncic's ability to be a one-man offense is certainly reminiscent of James even though he doesn't have the same explosiveness or athleticism. Instead, Doncic relies on quick steps and quick changes of the speed to destroy defenses. Both players, though, are wildly creative and effective playmakers.

While James remains the active leader in All-Star nominations, Doncic and the rest of the NBA's elite will follow. Since Doncic started collecting All-Star nominations in just his second year in the league, he is set to collect many more.
