LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers emerged victorious in their preseason matchup against defending champions Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. Aside from the basketball spectacle itself, one of the more interesting moments in the game was when James had a few words with some of the Warriors.

Our very own senior editor and Lakers beat writer Ryan Ward relayed James' account of the incident via Twitter.

As explained by James, there was actually not much said between himself and some of the more prominent members of the Dubs. This was the first time LeBron faced Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and the rest of the Warriors on the court since they swept him and his Cleveland Cavaliers in last season's Finals. It was also James' initial meeting with his arch-rivals in a Lakers uniform.

Given the premise, some may have expected a more lengthy and substantial exchange of words, but this was just not the case on the evening.

Perhaps the atmosphere of the contest had a lot to do with this. It was indeed nothing more than a non-bearing preseason contest, but everybody knew that there was much more to this matchup than a friendly pickup game. After all, regardless of the situation, getting a chance to get one over the champions is enough motivation for any opposing team to be at their best. Even more so for LeBron who has been at the losing end against the Warriors in three of their last four Finals meetings.

Maybe being in a Lakers uniform changes that.
