ESPN’s Brian Windhorst may have just taken a dig at Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green over the pair’s take on vaccination.

Apart from the highly-anticipated match-ups, COVID vaccination has become one of the most talked about topics leading to the new NBA season.

It can be recalled that Draymond Green insisted that despite being one of the leaders f the Warriors team, he wouldn’t “go ask him [Andrew Wiggins] if he got a COVID vaccine.”

Lakers guard LeBron James then commended Green and said he “couldn’t have said it better.”

Weighing in on the controversial subject, ESPN analyst Brian Windhorst acknowledged the fact that James and Green are modern athletes portraying the “more than an athlete” role in the society.

“The position that’s difficult that Draymond and LeBron took afterward is they are part of this ‘More Than An Athlete’ brand, where they say ‘We can use our influence to do things that are way outside basketball.’ Which is obviously the evolution of a modern athlete, in a clearly positive direction,” Windhorst said on The Hoop Collective podcast.

However, Windhorst also explained why he thinks James and Green are “cherry-picking” the issues and matters they want to touch.

“But, they are cherry-picking,” he claimed. This is why it’s dangerous to do this. Because, you can’t say you’re more than an athlete on some things, and then on other things say ‘What do I know, who am I to say?‘ It creates a disingenuous situation.”
