The Los Angeles Lakers opened their 2023-24 season against the Denver Nuggets. Denver came out hot, but the Lakers are still hanging around. The Lakers-Nuggets rivalry stems from the 2023 Western Conference Finals, where LA got swept in four games. It seems the drama is not over, with a recent highlight play that shows LeBron James falling for Reggie Jackson's shot fake.

Was LeBron James faked? Or did he simply trip on a shoe?

Jamal Murray drove along the baseline before dishing a pass to Reggie Jackson in the corner. Jackson pumped faked and James hit the deck.

From the view of the TV camera, it looks like James got faked out. However, the live broadcast showed a closer look, and James actually stepped on Jackson's shoe. This caused him to lose balance and fall backwards. In the eyes of Denver fans though, LeBron's ankles got broken.

The highlight plays continue to reel in for this exciting Western Conference Finals matchup. At halftime, the Lakers were down by nine points, but there were some notable individual performances so far. Anthony Davis had 17 points while LeBron James had a stat line of 10 points, two assists, and five rebounds.

Los Angeles will want to clean things up on the defensive end if they want to reel Denver in. In addition, the Nuggets shot 38.7% for three-pointers compared to LA's 30%. If the Lakers can make more long-range shots, that might edge them closer to the lead.

Of course, Nikola Jokic leads Denver with 19 points. It looks to be a battle of the big men as the second half of the battle prepares to start in the Mile High City. Perhaps Reggie Jackon's play on LeBron will awaken the beast and spur an LA run.
