LeBron James may have preferred a different victim. But, he was forced to power through former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, Kevin Love, who bravely stepped in for a charge as the 37-year old Los Angeles Lakers star dove to the basket with two minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Bad decision.

Advantage, LeBron. Two (thunderous) points for the Lakers.

Of course, the vibes were all good between James and Love, who made four trips to the Finals together and won the 2016 title. Love responded by putting James in a bear-hug and headlock coming out of halftime.

Afterward, LeBron admitted that — considering his relationship with Love — he wished one of his top highlights of the season never happened.

“To be completely honest, I hate that it had to be him,” LeBron told reporters. “That's my guy. That's my brother. Hope I'm still invited to the wedding. That's not even in my all-time dunks, so I'll take it out. I didn't mean it. K-Love, I love you. And I take it back. I wish I could take those two points back and we'd still win the game by nine.”

LeBron had a similar message in his walk-off interview with Spectrum when asked where the dunk ranks among his career posters.

“At the very last spot, because it's K-Love. When I turned that corner and I looked up, I was like ‘No, please Kev, just move.' He should know that once I get that Go-Go-Gadget calf muscle and get going that I'm going to take off. I hate that it happened to be him, so I'm gonna take that one even out of my posters. I didn't like that one, cause that's my guy.”

The poster was one of many show-stopping moments from LeBron in his latest masterpiece in his home state. The four-time champion finished with 38 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists on 17-0f-28 shooting. The Lakers played arguably their finest all-around game of the season, earning a 131-120 win.

If you're wondering, Love announced his engagement to model Kate Bock on Jan. 31, 2021. I'm going to assume LeBron will still get an invite to the wedding.
