Los Angeles won in overtime, 120-117, improving their record to 2-2 without LeBron. Point guard Russell Westbrook displayed flashes of his former self by garnering a triple-double, with 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists. Anthony Davis and Malik Monk also added 24 and 27 points, respectively.

Heat star Jimmy Butler was forced to leave after the first half with a sprained ankle, leaving Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Kyle Lowry to pick up the offense. Yet the team struggled to make shots when it truly mattered, with Herro missing several open looks at crucial points within the end of the game. This ultimately led to a team loss, with Miami dropping two in a row.

The Lakers will need to focus on maintaining a respectable record while LeBron is out indefinitely, though he is projected to return shortly. With a current record of 7-5, the team sits in seventh place in a tough Western Conference. Though Los Angeles brought in star Russell Westbrook along with veterans in Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and Rajon Rondo, they have struggled to play well together. The Lakers should look to form better chemistry before James fits in seamlessly to the starting lineup after his injury.
