The Los Angeles Lakers are not in the NBA playoffs this year, having failed to even qualify for the NBA play-in tournament, to the surprise of many. Now back home and done for the season, LeBron James took to social media ahead of the final round of the play-in tournament, honing in on a particular point guard matchup he's eager to get a glimpse of. Via Twitter, the Lakers star revealed he'll have his eyes glued to the matchup between Cleveland Cavaliers PG Darius Garland and Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young, offering the pair of young guards some glowing praise.

While LeBron may be wishing the Lakers still had a fighting chance this season, he's seemingly come to terms with the fact that he'll be designated to watching on the couch. Regardless, all that's on The King's mind on Friday night is the point guard matchup between Garland and Young, not what went wrong for the Lakers.

James didn't hesitate to throw heaps of praise in their direction, boldly declaring that Garland and Young were two of the “brightest young PG stars in our game today.”

It's a fair assessment of the two Eastern Conference All-Stars. Garland, 22, is averaging 21.7 points, 8.6 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game this season, while hitting an average of 2.6 3-pointers per game at a 38.3% clip. Young, on the other hand, averaged 28.4 points, 9.7 assists, and 3.1 3's per game shooting at a 38.2% clip from deep during his fourth year in the league.

If there is any matchup fans will be watching closely on Friday night, it's this one. And that includes LeBron, who has already declared his admiration for the two players in what should be a point guard battle to remember.
