LeBron James is headed to Southern California to play for the Los Angeles Lakers and it might be an understatement to say that Lakers fans are excited. They celebrated outside Staples Center on Sunday night, and they have gone online to preorder number 23 jerseys in the purple and gold.

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN, the sales numbered so many that it gave Fanatics one of it's top 10 ten days ever in terms of NBA gear sold.

In the first three hours of sales, there was a 600 percent spike compared to how his new Cavaliers jersey sold on the site on the day when he returned to Cleveland from Miami in July 2014.The top markets for sales of LeBron's Lakers jersey were Los Angeles, New York, Oakland/San Francisco and Cleveland.

There could be a few reasons for it outselling Cleveland, but it starts with how many people like the Lakers. The Lakers are a worldwide market, and James coming over is going to make it even grow larger. James had also already played with the Cleveland Cavaliers, so the fans that didn't burn their jerseys could just throw on the ones that had collected a bit of dust in the closest.

If Cavs fan bought a James jersey in the last 90 days from Fanatics they are able to exchange the jersey for either a James Lakers jersey or another Cavs player.

The jerseys won't ship until James officially signs with the Lakers, so fans will have to wait at least a few days to get their hands on their new jerseys.
