Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James shot an airball at the charity stripe during the third period of their Christmas Day tilt against the Dallas Mavericks. After the game, the four-time NBA MVP jokingly blamed the wine for going down to the left side of his body, which caused him to miss the free-throw that he shot with his right hand, via SportsCenter.
The air-ball free-throw shot by James didn't impact the outcome too much, as the Lakers dominated the visiting Mavericks all throughout the encounter. After leading the game 69-57 heading into halftime, the Purple and Gold never looked back and finished the game en route to a convincing 138-115 victory.
Lakers big man Anthony Davis led the way with 28 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in 30 minutes played while James added with a near triple-double performance of 22 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists through 31 minutes of action.
With his production, James climbed to No. 2 on the Christmas Day scoring list after surpassing Oscar Robertson with 383 total points in 15 games played. He is now only trailing behind the late Lakers icon Kobe Bryant who topped the list with 395 points in 16 appearances.
The combined effort of the two stars helped fend off Luka Doncic's 27 points and seven assists to secure their first win of the season.
With a 1-1 record in their first two games, the Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves as they look to earn their second-straight victory on Dec. 27. Hopefully, the wine treatment will finally get to be effective and won't cause LeBron James another air-ball miss from the free-throw line this time around.
