Obviously, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is known as one of the greatest athletes ever, but what he does off the court is just as special. LeBron has continually helped communities over the years, showing what a great person he is. Now, he’s reaping more recognition for his social work.

For his “Graduate Together” special, LeBron became one of the nominees for the highly prestigious Peabody Awards. With LBJ at the forefront, the “Graduate Together” special last May honored more than three million high school seniors across the nation. The one-hour virtual ceremony aired on ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC and on other social media platforms.

After learning his nomination, The King took to Twitter to express his gratitude.

While it’s not as exciting as watching him play, LeBron’s impact is evident for everything he is doing. The “Graduate Together” special in particular was a way for 2020 graduates to celebrate as COVID-19 affected the regular graduations. LeBron gave a great speech where he offered words of encouragement (via NBA.com).

“To the class of 2020, as you celebrate tonight, do not forget your safety net. Every teacher, every coach, every pastor, they along with your friends and family got you to this moment. And now, it’s time to go to a new place.”

That message will go a long way for the graduates and hopefully, will inspire them throughout their lives.

This was just one of the many ways LeBron impacts society. He also opened a school called the I Promise School in 2018, providing free education for underprivileged kids. His school has increased the learning level for many students and is making real change in the community.

Surely, LeBron James will continue to have a positive influence on communities for many years.
