Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James referenced New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady when talking about dominance in the latter stages of their careers.

There are some who argue that The King is slowing down, but his statistics from this season beg to differ. He's taken great care of his body over the years, following strict diet and workout regimens. This season is no different, and he explained his process:

“If we’re playing a lot of games, then I’m working on my mind,” LeBron James said, via Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports. “Or if I’m feeling a little banged up, then I work on my body. If I feel like my game needs to be tuned up a little bit, then I work on the court and get my game involved, because everything is very important for me.”

James, who's celebrating his 35th birthday on Monday, says he pays close attention to Tom Brady, who is currently playing in his 19th season of NFL service at the age of 42:

“I definitely pay attention to what Brady does. How could you not?” LeBron James said. “One of the greatest football players ever to walk the face of the earth. He is counted out every year pretty much with people saying you can’t do this or do that. He just tries to continue to put his franchise and their franchise in a position to be successful.”

LeBron James has scored more points before the age of 35 than any player in NBA history, and he has a real shot at passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league's all-time leading scorer. In his 32 appearances this season, the former No. 1 overall pick has racked up averages of 25.1 points on 48.7 percent shooting from the field (34.5 percent from beyond the arc), 10.8 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 35.0 minutes per outing.

The Lakers are 26-7 on the season.
