Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James recently announced that he and the LeBron James Family Foundation had a special treat for the high school graduating class of 2020. The three-time NBA champ is living up to his promise, as he just announced Tuesday that former United States President Barack Obama will be giving a commencement speech during this one-of-a-kind ceremony.

LeBron made the announcement via his Twitter account:

That's as big a personality as it gets, and there's no doubt that the graduates will be thrilled to hear that President Obama himself will be addressing them during their commencement.

LeBron James realized that it is only right that the hard work of these students is recognized:

“We learned early on in our work with students and families in Akron that education is so much more than academics. It’s about a shared experience, a journey we’re all on together — students, parents, educators, community members, and everyone around them,” LeBron James said in a statement. “With that not being possible right now, we’ve been working to find ways to help families get through this really difficult time. These students have worked incredibly hard for this and there’s no way we can let that go unrecognized. While this won’t be the graduation experience they were supposed to get, we hope we can still give them something special because they deserve it.”

LeBron James does a lot of community work, especially with kids. His I Promise School has been a rousing success, and this is just another example of the Lakers star giving back.

President Obama joins a long list of celebrity guests in the upcoming graduation ceremony, which includes Pharrell Williams, the Jonas Brothers, Megan Rapinoe, and LeBron James himself. The ceremony will air at 8 p.m. ET on May 16 across a variety of platforms.
