Despite being widely regarded as one of the best to ever play the sport, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James does not have a shortage of critics. Instead of looking at his countless achievements, detractors often focus on James' failures and highlight them as best they can. However, LeBron himself has admitted that his failures have played a pivotal role on his legacy.

Speaking to the media during his recent trip to Shanghai, China, the 33-year-old shared how he does not let his failures overcome him. Instead, he embraces them and uses them to fuel his success.

“Being able to accept failure is a process,” said James, per Lu Wenao of the Global Times. “It is not wrong you fail. When people get so afraid to fail, they don't get everything into it.”

James highlighted the importance of learning from one's mistakes. He strongly believes in the notion that experience, be it good or bad, is truly the best teacher. LeBron has had his fair share of failures throughout his life, but these have only made him stronger as a person.

By joining a very young and inexperienced Lakers squad, James understands that there will be some growing pains along the way. Nevertheless, he intends to bring the “never give up” mentality to L.A. and engrave it to the team's DNA.

“I understand there will be a time I won't succeed or may fail, but I won't stop,” he added. “I will continue to go back.”

This concept is nothing new. However, coming from someone who has gone through a myriad of heartbreaks yet remains to be one of the most successful athletes today, it does leave a more significant impression.
