With the start of the new season just a few weeks away, all eyes are on the defending champs, the Los Angeles Lakers. For his part, LeBron James believes that the Lakers have placed themselves in prime position to defend their crown for the 2020-21 season.

Speaking on a recent appearance on the Road Trippin' Podcast, LeBron shared exactly why he believed the Lakers have it within themselves to repeat this coming campaign:

“We can [repeat]. I mean, it's that simple,” James said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “We absolutely can. … First of all, it all starts with health. You have to have some luck. You have to have health. If we can stay healthy.”

James makes for a fair point here. The Lakers have an extremely short offseason, especially compared to other teams who did not take part in the Disney World bubble. Nevertheless, LeBron remains confident in his group — especially considering how they have made some great moves during the offseason:

“We did get younger,” said James. “We have a 27-year-old point guard [in Schroder]. We got the 27-year-old Sixth Man of the Year award [winner] in Trezz. We got younger. We got Marc, who is a Defensive Player of the Year and his IQ, not only playing against him in the NBA, but also playing against him versus Spain with the national team.”

While the Lakers lost the likes of Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, JaVale McGee, and Avery Bradley, they were able to bring in some big names that will certainly help their cause for the coming season. James himself seems to be happy with how his team is stacking up for the coming season, and needless to say, that's an important first step for the Purple & Gold.
