LeBron James is set to return to Cleveland when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Cavaliers on Nov. 21. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN, and James has already spiced things up by giving away free tickets to that game to some thrilled overseas fans.
Here's the video of LeBron's surprise announcement that left his fans endlessly jumping up and down in excitement:
The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player signed a multi-year deal with the Lakers this summer, leaving the Cavaliers without their best player yet again. Despite the fact that the team should remain competitive with Kevin Love at the helm, the Cavs will definitely take several steps back in their bid to become a contender in the Eastern Conference.
After delivering on his promise to give the city of Cleveland its first major championship in 2016, James and the Cavs would be beaten twice by the Golden State Warriors in the Finals. With LeBron taking his talents to Hollywood this year, Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post provided his take on some arguable reasons why the King chose the Lakers in free agency:
“Today, James is taking that self-determination to another level. By moving to Los Angeles, he’s not only putting himself where he and his family will be comfortable and he can continue to expand upon his myriad business interests as his career winds down. He is also willingly taking on the mantle of reviving the mystique of the Lakers, something that has flagged in recent years with the franchise besieged by dysfunction and mismanagement since the final years of Kobe Bryant’s career.”
LeBron will be facing a steep challenge in the loaded Western Conference, but he and the Lakers will be ready for it.
