LaVar Ball spoke his prophecy into existence back in 2017, as his son Lonzo was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. The loud-mouthed Ballfather couldn't help himself but make another to follow, saying both of his other sons, LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball, would wind up joining their older brother in the Lakers.

That prediction quickly came crashing down, as LiAngelo, a UCLA commit, was caught shoplifting in China during the Bruins' preseason tour, which put him in the doghouse to start the season, causing LaVar to remove him from the school.

LiAngelo would soon join his younger brother LaMelo (also removed from high school) in Lithuania, playing for Vytautas Prenai, hoping it could help them land the exposure needed to make the NBA Draft.

The day came and LiAngelo's name went uncalled, as most NBA scouts and executives were rather unimpressed with his workouts and/or his short stint playing overseas.

Yet the middle brother isn't down on himself, despite having his dream of being an NBA player crushed through one summer.

“It’s not upsetting at all,” said LiAngelo, according to Josh Martin of LonzoWire. “At the end of the day, I’m only 19. So people acting like it’s the end of the world for me, like I’m 26 or something. Nah, I’m 19. I got other stuff I could do.”

LiAngelo has yet to receive any interest for joining a Summer League team or take part in the G-League, but is still rather chasing the dream, hoping someone comes calling.

“I’m just going to keep working out and then when my time comes, I’ll be ready,” he said.
