Every year, the top prospects in every sport usually sign with major brands like Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour. However, Lonzo Ball is unlike any prospect after being selected with the second overall pick at the 2017 NBA Draft.

After Ball's father met with the major brands and could not come to an agreement, the Big Baller Brand unveiled the ZO2 sneaker. During the Las Vegas Summer League, Ball wore different shoes including the Kobe AD (Nike), Harden LS (Adidas), Curry 4 ‘Finals' (Under Armour) and Air Jordan XXX1 Low.

There was speculation the Big Baller Brand was attempting to start a bidding war, but according to Nick DePaula of ESPN, they are currently not negotiating with any brands:

Is the Ball family currently negotiating with any brands?

No. After meeting with representatives from each of the major domestic basketball brands — Nike, Adidas and Under Armour — as far back as December 2016, none of the company reps had an interest in LaVar's offered “co-branded partnership” structure. Up until the Big Baller Brand unveiled the ZO2 sneaker, Adidas was still interested in making a standard endorsement offer.

After averaging a near triple-double and winning the Most Valuable Player award during Summer League, Ball has quickly generated buzz around the league. With the former UCLA product teaming up with Brandon Ingram, there are high hopes they can return the storied franchise back to championship contention.

With a young core established through the draft, President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka are eyeing two superstars in next year's free agency. As Ball showcased his pass-first mentality, there should be plenty of players who want to join Los Angeles in the near future.
