Since he became the Los Angeles Lakers owner, Magic Johnson has been very active in his pursuit of superstar free agents in his attempt to bring back the old ‘Showtime' days of the Lakers. This past summer, they got the biggest superstar there is in LeBron James. And while James is still widely considered the best player in the game, it might still not be enough for them to be considered a serious threat in the Western Conference.

In a recent interview, he said that he was going to get another superstar next summer, though he didn't actually name any specific one. Magic Johnson discussed some possible names that are available on Fox Sports.

While many executives around the league expect Kevin Durant may leave Golden State next summer, he’s doing so to secure his legacy with his “own team” and moving to the shadow of LeBron James does not fit that.

Kawhi Leonard‘s people have talked about him wanting to go to Los Angeles next summer, but the Raptors are the hottest team in the NBA early and will have a shot to keep him

The real target may be Anthony Davis, who switched agents to LeBron’s agent Rich Paul and Klutch Sports. A lot of executives around the league think he could be Laker bound — but he has two years left on his current contract.

Other names that the Lakers might consider are Kyrie Irving, Karl Anthony-Towns, DeMarcus Cousins and Klay Thompson, who's hometown is Los Angeles. It will be interesting to see how Johnson and the Lakers try to convince these big names to play for one of the winningest franchises in NBA history.
