Veteran small forward Markieff Morris plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Morris got a buyout from the Detroit Pistons on Friday.

Markieff’s brother, Marcus Morris, is on the Los Angeles Clippers. It's going to be pretty fun to watch the Morris brothers play against each other in the battle for LA should the two teams meet in the playoffs.

Markieff appeared in 44 games for the Pistons this season. He averaged 11.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Markieff signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Pistons in free agency this past summer. He split time with the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

In 2018-19, Morris averaged 9.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 42.1 percent from the floor, 33.5 percent from the 3-point line and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line. Markieff has career NBA averages of 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 623 NBA games.

The Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference at 41-12.
