The Los Angeles Lakers-Phoenix Suns first-round series was not short of controversy. Unsurprisingly, Lakers veteran forward Markieff Morris was involved in one of them with the 31-year-old getting into it with Suns governor Robert Sarver over Chris Paul's shoulder injury.

Apparently, Morris and Sarver were involved in a bit of a spat after the latter took offense at Morris' alleged actions after CP3 went down with the injury. Morris himself has opened up about the incident and has decided to apologize to Sarver for whatever he may have said:

“Robert Sarver had a couple of words last game. I think he thought something happened that didn't when CP got hurt, and I kind of said some stuff to him,” Morris said, via Duane Rankin of azcentral. “I don't know if he heard about it, but I apologize to him for that because it was a misunderstanding and, you know, I'm older now and I shouldn't have replied the way I did and I just want him to know that.”

Morris did not provide too many details as to what exactly he did that ticked Sarver off. The Lakers vet also did not elaborate on their post-game exchange, so there's clearly a lot more to this issue than what's on the surface.

To be fair to Morris, he's taken the high road here by reaching out to the high-ranking Suns executive. For what it's worth, Morris started off his career in Phoenix. He was the Suns' 13th overall pick in 2011, and he spent the first five years of his career with the squad.
