Montrezl Harrell has looked rejuvenated in his first two games as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, much to the delight of coach Frank Vogel. Harrell played a big game in their bounce-back win against the Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year poured in 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting, along with seven boards, two assists, and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench.

Speaking post-game, Vogel was all praises for the team's new reserve big man and raved about the infectious energy he brings to the second unit (via Spectrum SportsNet).

“He catches everything and he finishes everything. He's just a talented guy when he rolls to the basket, offensive rebounds, and he's got a great knack for those push shots. That's the reason why he's the Sixth Man of the Year last year and the reason why we picked him up.”

Despite enjoying his best statistical year last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, Harrell received some flak for his uninspired outing in the NBA Bubble. The 26-year-old missed some time following the death of his grandmother. Trez didn't look like his usual self upon returning as his numbers dropped across the board. In fact, his defensive limitations were deemed as a huge factor in the Clippers' second round meltdown against the Denver Nuggets.

The Clippers perhaps undervalued Harrell come free agency after his forgettable postseason, leading to his shocking signing with the Lakers for a $19 million bargain. Judging by his strong start to the new season, it looks like Harrell has gotten his bearings back. Aside from his 22-point outing against the Mavericks, Harrell dropped 18 points against his old team on opening night.

The Purple and Gold indeed have a strong case for a repeat if Montrezl Harrell continues to play like this for the rest of the year.
