Former Los Angeles Lakers star Mychal Thompson might have played in a different era from Kobe Bryant, but he knows what the Black Mamba was capable of. After all, having worked as a radio commentator covering the Purple and Gold for years now, he has watched plenty of Kobe's epic games.

With that said, as the whole NBA world celebrates what would have been Bryant's 43rd birthday, Thompson honored the LA legend on Twitter. He admitted that he still misses Kobe before pointing out his belief that Bryant would still average 18 points if he's still alive and playing for the Lakers at this age–a testament of how brilliant of a scorer he was.

There are no lies in Mychal Thompson's message, though. To recall, in Kobe Bryant's retirement season in 2015-16, he still averaged 17.6 points per game. He was 37 at the time, and it is worth noting that he finished his career with the Lakers in the most Mamba way possible by dropping 60 in his final game against the Utah Jazz.

Given how well Kobe took care of his body and his natural drive to score and win, Mychal Thompson's statement is not that far-fetched.

Unfortunately, Kobe passed away in a tragic helicopter crash in January 2020. He was with her daughter Gianna and seven others, who all perished in the saddening accident.

While he is gone, though, the Lakers–former players and new ones alike–along with the rest of the NBA continue to honor him in various ways.
