In the ongoing saga of conveniently timed “random” drug tests, Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso had to fulfill the league's program, sharing a photo of the paper slip form on Instagram on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Caruso re-signed with the Lakers in the the offseason — a two-year contract worth $5.5 million.

Caruso, a 6-foot-5 point guard, entered the NBA with the Oklahoma City Thunder after going undrafted in 2016 out of Texas A&M. The Thunder would later waive and sign Caruso to their G League affiliate Oklahoma City Blue, where he played for the 2016-17 season.

He first joined the Lakers after the 2017 Summer League in Las Vegas, impressing coaches and L.A.'s front office alongside then-rookie lottery selection Lonzo Ball.

The Lakers inked Caruso to a two-way contract and the former Aggie would appear in 37 games for the Purple and Gold during the 2017-18 season. Caruso signed another two-way deal with Los Angeles the following season and appeared in even fewer games (25) in 2018-19.

In the future, however, Caruso will be seen as a quality backup floor general on the Lakers. With the loss of Ball in the Anthony Davis trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, Caruso's place on the roster stands next to Rajon Rondo, Quinn Cook and James, who could play point-forward for the team.
