Basketball fans used the word “showtime” to describe Magic Johnson's Los Angeles Lakers team because they played such a fun, up-tempo play style that rivaled any show on screens. Now, those teams are coming to the screens themselves.

While HBO is producing a series about the Showtime Lakers, Apple TV is making a documentary about Johnson that debuts on April 22nd. The official trailer dropped, showing loads of NBA legends who will make appearances like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Shaquille O'Neal and Jerry West.

Johnson's NBA career is one of the most storied careers in the sport. He emerged as a phenom right away, faced plenty of challenges early in his career and rose to the occasion to become the best point guard ever when he retired. The Lakers won five championships with him leading the way in the 1980s.

The charisma he showcased on a daily basis combined with the once-in-a-generation talents he had make him a fantastic topic to cover. His scary announcement that he had contracted HIV marked the end of an era and slowed him down right in his prime. But it also launched the phase of his life where he got more involved with social causes and businesses.

Johnson will always be remembered as the legendary leader of some of the best teams in Lakers history, but he is much more than that.
