Ohio Governor John Kasich is one of the latest personalities that have come to the defense of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James after being attacked by U.S. President Donald Trump on social media.

Kasich took to Twitter to back one of Ohio's native sons, by stating that it would be more prudent to celebrate LeBron's remarkable work for the kids of Ohio, as opposed to bashing him publicly.

The Governor is clearly referring to LeBron's recently-opened I Promise School in Akron, Ohio which is set out to provide free, quality education — among other things — to hundreds of underprivileged kids.

LeBron James has never been the type to shy away from sharing his political beliefs publicly. This recent feud with the most powerful man in the world started when James accused Trump of dividing the nation through sports. The President obviously did not like this one bit, and even went as far as implying that he would take Michael Jordan over James in terms of the GOAT debate.

For his part, Governor Kasich chimed in, and not only highlighted James' contributions to the community outside the basketball court, but also went on to announce his inclinations when it comes to the matter of James and Jordan. It was no surprise that he took the side of his fellow Ohioan.

This issue appears to be far from over, and it would not be surprising to see personalities get involved over the next couple of days.  Stay tuned.
